Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a health insurance policy designed specifically for international students studying in Australia. It provides cover for medical expenses, including doctor visits, hospitalization, ambulance services, prescription medications, and some additional services.
In order to meet the student visa requirements and be eligible for OSHC, the Australian government requires you to continuously maintain OSHC during your stay in Australia, unless there are exceptional circumstances. When you purchase OSHC, you will need to pay for the policy premium upfront to cover the period of your student visa.
Single plan: only covers overseas students who are the primary visa holder/applicant.
The dual family plan: covers overseas students and their spouse or overseas students and their dependent children.
The multi-family plan: covers overseas students, their spouse, and their dependent children.
*Important note: Base on the requirement of each OSHC policy. if you hold a secondary Student Visa, you must be insured under the same policy as the primary Student Visa holder. The insurer may refuse to accept your claim if you hold an wrong policy type.
